1) Actuality. Why this theme is taken for the study?


Once I bought the magazine “GEOlenok "where the article “Animals yawn» was. While I was reading, I was yawning, especially where the yawning animals were shown, I became yawn more.
This phenomenon has interested me. I was watching my dog and noticed that before eating it often yawned. And I noticed that one need only to yawn, as all the kids in the class began to yawn, "catching" each other. The teacher made observations, irritated, and nothing good comes of it, sometimes even conflict.
I wondered what yawn is.

2) Determine the subject of study. (What should be studying?)

The purpose of my work: to study the effect of yawning in humans.
Objectives:
• explore the process of yawning with the physiological side,
• identify the cause of this phenomenon,
• demonstrate a positive and negative effects of yawning in humans,
• based on scientific literature and my own observations, to get acquainted with the peculiarities of the yawning, interesting facts about this phenomenon.

 
3) Formulation of the problem. What is the problem? What are some questions to be answered?

• The problem is how to cope with a yawn?
• Is it useful or harmful?
• Are there methods that help regulate the process of yawning?

 
4) Nomination of the hypothesis. (What could be the proposed answer?)

• I guess that yawning occurs when a person wants to sleep. Many people think that yawning is caused by oxygen deprivation in a stuffy room or a man the evil eye.
• A person can cope with a yawn, if he may rest or sleep a little.
• In my opinion, yawning appears in the wrong, a crucial moment and irritates others.
• A person can cope with a yawn, if you cheer up: drinking a cup of strong tea or coffee, do physical exercises.


5) Test the hypothesis.

On the materials the Internet I found that most seriously engaged in the study of yawning in the U.S., Psychologist Robert Provine and Ronald Bennindzher. In the Russian sources of information, I unfortunately could only find encyclopedic wording of the term "yawn".
         
Yawning (deep long breath and short breath in the wide-open mouth) - it's an involuntary reaction of the body, are a sign of fatigue or lack of oxygen.
Normally, yawning occurs when fatigued, drowsy, stay in a room with a high content of carbon dioxide, after a period of weakening of breathing, in the absence of muscular activity, etc.
To reduce the activity of nerve cells and the subsequent integration of signal protection provide concrete and monotony - the components of our lives that prevent thinking

The specificity fixates, and the monotony turns off (lull).At present the biggest challenge to the nerve cells is an information-semantic fatigue. Receiving information requires a huge expenditure of energy, which leads to the excitation, for which invariably follows inhibition. So yawning - a sign that the body is ready to change one type of activity to another. I see this, we conducted an experiment. In our school most often yawn at the end, the middle of a lesson and when they come after the dining room. At the end and the middle of the lesson all yawn because they are learning new or complex material, and after dining all yawn, because the body is relaxed and very hard to concentrate.
It is interesting to note that sometimes yawning attacks before an important speech before the exam, when performing, and some physical exercise - jumping high over the bar, cross-country competitions, etc. Man suppresses in himself a sense of fear, there is yawning. Watching my relatives and me, I noticed that you do not want to yawn, if the mood buoyant, good, happy,
high spirits. Another thing is when we are somehow depressed, oppressed. As usual to say "nervous" yawning is attacking.
Watching themselves and their friends, I noticed that after a busy school day attacks yawning. Because our brain erases accumulated during the day negative emotions, and all day the brain was overloaded with more information, and now yawning creates a pleasant backdrop for sleep.
Not yet collected scientific evidence to be considered the yawn as remedy against the stress caused by negative emotions.
But the connection between emotions and yawning undoubtedly exists.

Almost all participants in their responses to questionnaires indicated that yawning causes a feeling of relaxation, complacency: "it became very easy," "inside all relaxed" ... Analysis of responses suggests that the yawn in some way relieves emotional stress.
A common view is that, say, a person starts to yawn only in poorly ventilated room with a lack of oxygen or at bedtime, was refuted by scholars and my own observations
.







 After studying literature, I realized that yawning appears not only in the wrong, a crucial moment and irritates others, but has a positive effect on living organisms. 
According to the American psychology professor, Andrew Gallup, yawning is designed to regulate the temperature of the brain. When yawning airways are widely open and your muscles relax. After that comes the pleasant state of unconsciousness. German scientists have found that yawning activates blood circulation, clears the mind, provides the cells of the brain and body energy, and promotes the activity of the lachrymal glands. Dry eyes moistened and feel much better. Muscles relax temples, face, neck, neck, shoulders, abdomen and diaphragm, improves mood. According to the Spanish doctors, yawning normalizes blood pressure, reduces stress in muscles and joints, and helps prevent heart attack and other heart diseases.
This concerns not only people but animals. Ronald Bennindzher said that watching the lions at the zoo: the approach of dinner - the main event of the day - they yawn more often. I watched the hippo in Sochi aquarium. Before feeding time it was lying in the water, it was permanently opening its huge mouth, sweet with a yawn.
Love yawns and cats, rats, birds, amphibians and even some tropical fish. Beautiful "zevun"(yawner) rhino – it yawns terribly contagious ... By the way, as human, so one is enough to yawn, yawn, and others. Caught in the company of onlookers, we are starting to yawn, not realizing it. In addition, it is infectious, even reading about yawning, is not it?
As yawning and sipping are involuntary processes. They exist on a subconscious level. It is on a subconscious level, by control and regulation of the majority of life-supporting processes of the body and mind.
The most important thing that I have set for ourselves - yawning is healthy, it is essential to the operation of the brain, which restores the nerve cells, relieves fatigue and stress.

6) Interpretation (explanation) of the results. Possible conclusions. 

After I conducted a poll, I have concluded that students in our school know very little about yawning. Most respondents believed the cause of this phenomenon sleepiness and boredom. The very process of yawning they see as a remedy for insomnia and the defense mechanism of our body. Use of yawning, according to the respondents that this phenomenon causes a feeling of relaxation and complacency, prepares the body for sleep. Participants of the survey believe that the most frequent yawning appears in warm, like a stuffy, unventilated, and in the oxygen-rich classrooms, as well as in the study difficult material on the latest lessons and classes where the guys come after dinner in the dining room.

I shared my knowledge with classmates and other students in our school. Teachers in my school were listening to my speech with enthusiasm and interest. They struck the facts about the benefits and reasons for yawning.
For those who do not know how to cope with a yawn, I'm using different sources, was a system of exercises (councils, gymnastics) and created an information product in the form of booklet.

Prospects of the project

• Consider a yawn as a remedy for stress.
• Examine the relationship between emotions and yawning.
• Identify the cause of yawning while reading prayers in church, when removing the evil eye or damage.

 
7) Preparation for the presentation of research material. Writing the report.

Report-writing capabilities were used text editor, Word, Publisher. The final material is presented in the form of presentations, made in the editor, Power Point. Images that are inserted into an electronic presentation, made in the program Flash.
